Just before I get to the February birthday knitting for Violet, I had to squeeze out a few more little somethings. The first is a Puerperium Cardigan for a friends new baby boy. I chose some coconut wood buttons to give this pretty blue Malabrigo Silky Merino yarn, from my stash, a bit of rustic boy charm. I still have quite a handful of skeins left, and the perfect spring project for it, now I just have to decide which one of these girls to knit it for. The yarn was originally set to be a cardigan for myself, it goes something like this....buy all the yarn for this pattern I want to make, precede to get pregnant, chosen pattern now a stretch to pull off (literally), forget about project, have 2 more kids, then 5 years later question the yarn/pattern combination, make multiple kid items from it instead. Off to better projects that will actually manifest is what I must do.
I also finished up these light green organic longies for Violet. The pattern is my own Rib My Heiny pattern found here for free. I used my now new favorite longie yarn, O-Wool Legacy DK, an organic merino wool. Super affordable, soft, and low-impact dyed from ethically treated sheep, for me personally it is a no-brainer. I can't wait to try out some of their other yarns!
On with searching my Ravelry queues and favs to start pounding out that birthday knitting for my almost 2 year old. Oh my, 2 years old already! I am totally in denial that she has not been an actual baby for almost a year.
